CLINICAL INTERVIEW -MANAGER APPROVAL- This is for a break relief nurse General Information o L D Beds: 34 ? 15 labor rooms, 12 antepartum, 4 OB ED, 3 OR o Post Partum ? 18 Beds o Will you accept a traveler with 1 year experience? ? LD RN ANM: No, will take 2 years with previous travel experience, 5+ preferred o Will you accept a first-time traveler? ? LD RN: Upon review ? ANM: yes, as long as they have solid Charge Nurse experience and 3 years of nursing experience. ? Patient Types: o HIGH acuity: Hypertension, Mg administration, C-sections (33% c section rate), Preterm labor, Insulin drips (rarely- follow protocol), vaginal deliveries, epidurals, inductions, Robust antepartum, PROM, Multiple births, post-partum hemorrhage o Transition post vaginal births and C-Section (mom and baby) Expectation is full recovery of birthing patient and baby; If there is a second set of hands to attend the birth and they will assign APGARS, but no guarantee they will be available after that to help care for the baby o Up to 300 deliveries per month ? Patient Ratios: o Per AWHONN guidelines: ? 1:1 active labor ? 1:2 non-active laboring ? 1:2-3 antepartum, dependent on acuity ? Required Certifications: o BLS, NRP, Intermediate FHM (AWHONN) ? Skills required o LD RN: High acuity experience: labor management and delivery of high risk OB patients, ability to triage OB patients, circulate in OR, cervical checks, reading/interpreting fetal monitoring strips; second set of hands (receive and recover normal newborn as needed) o ANM: Will function as a Charge Nurse for their shift, with occasionally taking patient assignments, so Charge experience is a must, will also help manage OB ED patients, and experience with the above patient types, must also be able to connect with staff, have strong interpersonal skills, willing to educate, staff rounding, help with conflicts o EPIC experience is required ? Support on the Unit: o CNA 1, transports, restocking, assists in OR, room clean up; instrument care o Scrub Techs: LPN and are NRP certified o Receptionist/HUC: Yes o Charge nurse: Free floating o Phlebotomy: Yes- RN are ultimately responsible o Resource RN: Pending on staffing o Break Nurse: Scheduled 2 per shift o RT: Yes, 24/7. NICU RTs to attend high-risk deliveries and when the strip looks bad o Laborist: 24/7 ? Residents/fellows in house. Additional physicians/midwives ? Call schedule distributed nightly; ask charge if needed o Anesthesia ? 1 scheduled during days shift; shared after 1700 ? Technology/Equipment: o EMR: EPIC required o IV pumps: Alaris CareFusion o Medication dispensing: Pyxis o Monitors: Fetal Surveillance: Centricity/Qx o Epidural Pumps- CAD Solaris o Panda Warmers o Coviden SCD s ? Floating: If yes, where? o Antepartum (within L D) , postpartum (4th floor) (occasionally), additional assignments within scope and experience o No floating for ANM ? Orientation: (facility and unit) CAP ONLY o Preceptor- hospital orientation + 2 weeks on unit and 1 week independently. (Start 3 weeks before the residents hitting the floor) o ANM: 6 shifts of unit orientation will be paired with a Charge Nurse ? Orientation: Traditional o NEO x 1 day; 2 days on the unit. Orientation will be during the Days, even if position is for Nights. o Cardiac rhythm test not required for this unit ? Scheduling: o Weekend rotation: Every other, but can be variable based on need o On call? If so, what is that schedule? ? No mandatory call requirements (per mgr. 2/10/2025) ? May pick up available open shifts as needs arise ? No Call for ANM o Holiday Expectations: Yes, fair and equitable; no holidays for ANM, but they may be able to pick up if needed o Approval of time off: RTO requests prior to contract approval o Incidental days off (24-48 hr) discuss with CANM or Manager o Shift times: ? 0700-1930, 1900-0730 ? ANM: 1900-0700 ? CAP Only - Will switch from Days to Nights the last 4 weeks o Schedule cycle: Schedule is made in 6-week increments and released 2 weeks prior to schedule beginning ? Cannot guarantee a block schedule. Will be utilized to fill in gaps in schedule. ? Other notes? o Scrub Color: provided by facility o Scrubs are not to be worn out of the facility Free Parking?
